How to treat hip pain?

Hip pain occurs in the hip joint due to an injury or medical conditions and can affect people of all ages. Only by analyzing the severity of the symptoms, physicians can determine the exact cause and suggest the right treatment method.

Treatment for hip pain

There are varied treatment methods for hip pain:

  • Initial treatment of patients with hip pain may include activity modification, some rest and few session of physical therapy.

  • Walking sticks or crutches are useful to support mobility. A physical therapist may recommend hip-strengthening exercises to improve flexibility.

  • Ice pack application for 3-4 times per day can also help reduce the swelling, inflammation, and pain.

  • Medications like analgesics as a pain reliever and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to decrease inflammation and pain. But consuming pain medication for a prolonged time leads to potential side effects, including heart, gastrointestinal, and kidney problems. Hence physicians do not recommend its consumption every day for a prolonged duration.

  • Injection doses of corticosteroids with an interval of four to six months can reduce pain and inflammation. But still, many patients continue to have pain and functional limitations. But avoid injecting it into a tendon which further causes the increase in the risk of tendinopathy (tendon degeneration) [1].

  • Though surgery like hip arthroscopy is an option, it is recommended only when there is no improvement with non-surgical treatments.

  • Non - surgical Regenerative Therapy.

Regenerative treatment

This cutting edge technology could help you recover from pain by repairing the damaged tissues naturally.

Regenerative therapy, including stem cell treatment and PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy, not only helps with the pain but also treats the cause of it. It repairs the affected soft tissue in hip, reduces the associated pain, and regenerates your hip by providing long-term pain relief. It is a same procedure with minimal downtime and minimal recovery time. Patients could see significant improvement in a few weeks. As the sample for this therapy is extracted from your own body, there is no risk of transmissible infection or allergic reaction either.

So, suppose you are looking to explore an alternative option to surgery and are looking for an alternative to surgery. In that case, you should consider a holistic approach - regenerative therapy to bring you permanent relief from your hip pain.

The Knee joint is one of the most important and strongest joints of the locomotor system of the human body. In short, a person who weighs 80 kg puts about 400kg of pressure on the knee when landing each running stride. The immense pressure experienced by the knee, especially in runners, makes the knee more prone to injury. Iliotibial or IT band syndrome, also called runner’s knee, is a common knee injury, especially in runners. It is the second most common knee injury in runners after the jumper’s knee.  What is Iliotibial or IT band syndrome or runner’s knee? The Iliotibial band, or IT band, is longitudinal fibrous support of the Fascia Lata. It is originating from the upper outer part of the hip and runs along the outside and lastly attaches to the top of the shinbone (tibia). When the knee bends, the IT band ...
